In Your Hands

A Devotional Reflection from the song, “In Your Hands”
Written by: Leia Marie

There are seasons in life when we walk through shadows that we don’t understand. Seasons where questions feel heavy, answers are uncertain, and fear sits close to the surface. We replay conversations. We examine scars. We wonder if the pain meant something, or if it was simply a loss.
But there are moments when God draws near in the quiet and gently reframes everything. Nothing has been wasted. That reassurance changes everything.
Scripture tells us that we are not accidents of survival. We are crafted. Known. Intentionally woven.
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before
one of them came to be.” – Psalm 139:16

When Joseph stood before his brothers after betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment, he declared something profound:
You meant evil against me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done,
the saving of many lives.” – Genesis 50:20

God does not author evil. But He is so sovereign, so intentional, so redemptive, that even what was meant to bury us can become part of the testimony that raises us, in His name, for His glory.

We are divinely crafted. Every tear. Every scar. Every prayer. Every dream that shattered.
God does not discard broken pieces. He redeems them.
Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things together for good. Not that all things are good, but that nothing escapes His ability to redeem for a good purpose. Every broken piece is redeemed for His glory. Every shattered dream becomes part of the story.

Try stepping into trust.
Trust that you are held.
Trust that your life has design.
Trust that what felt like ruin may actually be raw material in the hands of a Master Weaver.

And perhaps the deepest comfort is this:
You are not just part of a plan, you are secure in His hands. Not loosely held, not forgotten in the process, but crafted with beautiful purpose. Philippians 1:6 gives us this promise:
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…”

God finishes what He starts. Nothing in your life has been in vain. Even the enemy’s attempts to bury you in shame can become the soil where resurrection rises in Jesus’ name.
You are not discarded, you are being formed. And you are held, securely, in His hands.

Thank You Jesus!

Reflection Questions:

  1. Is there a part of your story that still feels wasted or meaningless? What might it look like to place that piece back into God’s hands?
  2. Where have you seen God redeem something difficult in your life — even in a small way?
  3. What does it practically mean for you to trust that you are “secure in His hands” right now?

Closing Prayer:

My God,

Thank You for holding my life in Your hands. When I look at the broken pieces of my story and wonder “why”, remind me that nothing is wasted in Your care. Help me trust that You are still weaving beauty and purpose from every thread.
When fear or doubt rises, steady my heart with the promise that You finish what You start. Teach me to place every scar, every question, and every dream into Your hands, knowing that You are faithful to redeem what feels lost.
Thank You for forming me, guiding me, and holding me securely in Your love.

In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
